WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO?

Vallarta Nayarit

After landing at the Puerto Vallarta Internacional Airport, take a bus or taxi 15 km (9 mi) west until you reach Vallarta Nayarit, one of the most important tourist areas in all of Banderas Bay.

The tropical climate of this coastal land, 80 km (50 mi) long, will soon beckon you to find a place to sunbathe. So head for Destiladeras, a white sand beach that is the best option for having fun; it even includes a private beach club where you can do aquatic sports.

Later on, visit the region of Cruz de Huanacaxtle, situated 15 km (9 mi) west of Vallarta Nayarit, where you can rent a boat and try fishing for barrilete, sierra and dorado. Do not miss visiting Punta Mita, where you can catch larger types such as marlin, fly-fish, and robalo. To add a bit of excitement to your visit, take a submarine trip through the black coral reefs of the Pacific Ocean. Request the appropriate equipment and submerge into the water to admire diverse marine life: manta rays, dolphins, gulf turtles and tropical fish. If you like extreme sports, go to Punta Sayulita, located 26 km (16 mi) northwest of Vallarta Nayarit. It is one of the most popular beaches due to its elevated surge which represents a great challenge for surf lovers. At nightfall, indulge yourself in a superb dinner consisting of a zarandeado fish and some enchiladas de ostión (oyster enchiladas) before visiting one of the bars or nightclubs found on Avenue Marina Vallarta where you can dance and have fun until the early hours of the morning.
