The "Cristo de las Noas", a huge sculpture close to the city of Torreón in the state of Coahuila, reaches the height of 20 m. It is considered to be one of the biggest religious images in the world.

On the hill of Las Noas, which name comes from a type of cactus that grows in great abundance around Torreón (278 km to the west of Saltillo), arises the monumental sculpture called el Cristo de las Noas: a slim and stretched figure whose open arms make it look a lot taller than 21.80 m, the true height of the monument.

This monumental piece of work was created by a sculptor called Vladimir Alvarado. He used 580 tons of concrete in it, and was finally able to inaugurate it in 1983. Nowadays there is a sanctuary which every year receives over 90,000 devotes who, apart from being able to admire the Christ, during the Easter can be present at the typical representations and festivities of the Easter Week.

Close to the Christ there is also a convent, a Greek-style theatre and a museum where they have recreated replicas of some of the places one could otherwise find only in the Holy Land. These replicas include the Cave of Bethlehem and the Mount Calvary, amongst others. As part of the modernization of the area, there is a plan to construct a cable car which will eventually connect the Hill of Las Noas with Torreón, as well as to build a panoramic restaurant.
